Glasgow City beat fellow Scottish Gas Women’s Cup finalists Rangers 1-0 in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.

City’s Brenna Lovera got the only goal from the penalty spot close to half time, after Rangers’ goalkeeper Jenna Fife took her down in the box.

Hibernian took advantage to move three points clear with a 2-0 defeat of Motherwell, Kathleen McGovern scoring after a defensive error and Kirsten Reilly heading home just before the break.

Fourth-placed Celtic are three points ahead of Hearts after coming from behind to beat them in stoppage-time. A Lizzie Waldie header brought an own-goal by Bruna Lourenco but Amy Gallacher fired Celtic level and Maria McAneny struck a 93rd-minute decider.

Montrose defeated Queen’s Park 4-0 to boost their chances of avoiding a relegation play-off, Holly Daniel at the double with one apiece from Louise Brown and Georgia Carter.

Spartans drew with Aberdeen to sit just three points above Montrose. Hannah Stewart had the Dons in front but Erin Rennie equalised with less than 20 minutes to go.

Partick Thistle edged Dundee United with Ellie Kane’s second-half goal.
