Germany and Sweden will meet in a UEFA Women’s EURO Group C decider on Saturday with both already through after back-to-back wins.

Group C

Germany 2-1 Denmark

Poland 0-3 Sweden

Germany had to come from behind to defeat Denmark 2-1 in a match of three crucial VAR checks.

Klara Buhl had the ball in the net for Germany but it was ruled out after a VAR check, the shot having gone through the legs of an offside Sjoeke Nusken in front of the keeper.

Denmark were ahead five minutes later, Amalie Vangsgaard’s shot on the turn beating goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger on her near post.

A second VAR check in the first half saw a Germany penalty for Frederikke Thogersen’s handball reduced a free kick on the edge of the box.

Maja Bay Østergaard made a couple of quick saves under Germany pressure, Sara Holmgaard forcing Berger into a tip-over at the other end.

It was third time lucky with VAR for the Germans after the break, Sjoeke Nusken tucking away a spot-kick eventually given for Katrine Veje’s foul on Linda Dallmann.

Lea Schuller took advantage of Denmark’s Emma Snerle taking an attempted clearance in the face, scoring when set up by Jule Brand.

Sweden were 3-0 victors over Poland with a dominant performance in Lucerne.

Sweden hit the bar with two headers in the first 15 minutes, Kosovare Asllani then Madelen Janogy going close.

They got ahead when Asllani crossed and Stina Blackstenius nodded past Kinga Szemik in the Poland goal.

The lead was doubled early in the second half, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd crossing Asllani to head home.

Julia Olme Zigiotti had the ball in the Polish goal but was judged to have fouled the keeper, although it was 3-0 when Lina Hurtig headed in from a Jonna Andersson corner.

Poland were denied a stoppage-time consolation, as Milena Kokosz hit the top of the far post from outside the box.
