England Women under-20s defeated Canada 1-0 at the Murcia Stadium in Spain, with Laila Harbert scoring a late winner.
Vera Jones cut inside before firing just over from outside the penalty area, while Jessie Gale couldn’t steer her header on target from Ava Baker’s cross and was denied by the Canadian goalkeeper after a through ball by Erica Meg Parkinson.
Parkinson went close after the break and Gale found the back of the net from another Baker delivery, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
With the game into stoppage time, Ria Bose crossed for fellow substitute Harbert to fire home the winner.
England WU20s next face Japan on Tuesday, 9 June (11am BST), as they continue their build-up to the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland this September.
