England Women overcame China 8-0 in a friendly international at Wembley Stadium, with Georgia Stanway claiming a hat-trick

Beth Mead scored twice in quick succession, first controlling and netting from an early ball by Lucy Bronze, then following up with a guided volley from an Ella Toone cross.

It was 3-0 with just over a quarter of an hour played, Lauren Hemp turning in a delivery from Georgia Stanway.

Hemp’s cross was only partially cleared with a punch from Pan Hongyan, and Stanway fired her shot back between the goalkeeper’s legs for 4-0.

A penalty was eventually awarded after a VAR check, Stanway stepping up to score her second goal of the evening.

Stanway completed her hat-trick early in the second half after a one-two with Toone, and moments after Jess Park clipped the crossbar, Toone was gifted a goal of her own.

Toone returned to setting up goals, with Alessia Russo making it 8-0 after a check for offside.
