England Women were victorious 6-1 in their opening FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifier against Ukraine, played in Türkiye.

Ukraine’s Nicole Kozlova was stretchered off in just the eighth minute, Laura Blindkilde Brown hit the crossbar as England dominated.

Lotte Wubben-Moy had a close-range backheel blocked on the line but there was no first-half breakthrough despite 85% possession for the Lionesses.

Just six minutes after the restart two goals were scored by Alessia Russo, the first after a cut inside, the second from Lauren Hemp’s cut back.

Ukraine replied as Yana Kalinina hit home after the ball dropped to her following a free kick, but Hemp won a penalty which Georgia Stanway converted comfortably.

Stanway broke into the box to hit the back of the net for a second time, then turned provider for Jess Park.

Park also moved onto a brace with a fine strike into the far top corner.
