England beat the Netherlands 4-0 as they recovered from a first-game defeat to France at UEFA Women’s EURO in some style.

Alessia Russo should have hit the target from one of many Lauren Hemp crosses but she did help set up the opener midway through the first half.

Picked out by Hannah Hampton’s defence-splitting long ball, Russo laid the ball off to Lauren James who finished emphatically past Daphne van Domselaar from just inside the area.

Hemp had a header drop just over the crossbar but in stoppage-time before the break, Georgia Stanway drilled the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box.

Russo had a goal ruled out early after the restart for an offside earlier in the move, but England did have their third before the hour mark as James tucked the ball away following up Toone’s blocked effort.

Toone did find the net from a pass by Russo, her third assist of the match.
