Regional Leagues Round-Up: Eastbourne Borough won the London & South East Trophy after a shoot-out success over fellow First Division champions Hammersmith.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Eastbourne Borough Complete the Double

1 North – Hammersmith had earlier been confirmed as champions, following last week’s win over AFC Greenwich Borough and a walkover against Clapton CFC. Bromley were pipped to the title by a single point but will also be promoted to the Premier Division.

League Trophy Final – Division 1 South champions Eastbourne Borough edged Hammersmith 4-3 on penalties, after Molly Hill cancelled out the opening goal in the first half at Dorking Wanderers FC.

SOUTHERN – Portchester Take Third Place

Premier – AFC Portchester grabbed third place from Southampton Women with an 11-0 thrashing of Woodley United, Layla Morgan leading the way with a five-goal haul and Sophie Bell hitting a hat-trick. Despite the heavy defeat, Woodley still finished goal difference above relegated Badshot Lea.

Portchester play again on Wednesday 27 May against Chatham Town in the Combined Counties Cup Final at Cobham FC.

WEST MIDLANDS – Shifnal Chasing Runners-Up Spot

Premier – Redditch Borough beat Shrewsbury Town 4-0 on Tuesday, helped by Alisha Sheridan’s hat-trick. Coventry Sphinx edged a seven-goal thriller with Shifnal Town on Wednesday despite a red card for goalscorer Holly Webb, as Madison Norton bagged a brace. Port Vale beat Solihull 2-0 on Sunday with Sophie Bwalya and Sian McHugh on target. Shifnal saw off Sphinx 3-1, but the victory was marred by Minnie Cottrell suffering a clean break to her arm. Shifnal will be sure of taking the runners-up spot from Redditch Borough if they pick up four points from their last two matches.

Remaining fixtures: Thurs 28 May – Sphinx v Burton Albion, Shifnal v Shrewsbury. Sun 31 May – Coundon v Shifnal, Sphinx v Shrewsbury.

1 South – Crusaders were 2-0 winners over Bromsgrove Sporting on Wednesday, with goals by Megan Jenkins and Danielle Selmes, as the side in fourth chase a second-place finish. Droitwich Spa currently hold the runners-up spot but suffered an 8-4 defeat at Redditch United, who led 5-2 at half-time.

Remaining fixtures: Sun 31 May – Crusaders v Halesowen, Hereford FC v Redditch United at Edgar Street.
