Durham Women have signed Republic of Ireland international midfielder Tyler Toland, who had captained Blackburn Rovers for the last two seasons.

She also previously played at Manchester City and went on loan to Glasgow City before a move to Celtic, whom she helped to a Scottish Women’s Premier League and Scottish Women’s Cup double.

After switching to Spanish top-flight side Levante, she joined Blackburn in 2023.

Toland told durhamwfc.co.uk: “When I’ve played against Durham I always felt that I’d love to be here.

“I’ve played against the team for two seasons and it’s always been a team that I’ve admired and I feel like I can fit into the playing style.

“I just want to get to know everyone and get going and see what the season has to hold for us.”
