Droitwich Spa and Hammersmith Both Came Out on Top in Their Battles for First Place

Regional League Round-Up: Droitwich Spa and Hammersmith won top-of-the-table clashes, Mangotsfield United also moved into first place, while AFC Portchester, Asfordby Amateurs and SJR Worksop all won cup ties on penalties.

EASTERN – Bowers & Pitsea Win Seven-Goal Thriller

Premier – Stevenage beat Wroxham 3-1, aided by a Sarah Wiltshire double and backed by a crowd of 130. Royston Town defeated St Albans City 4-1, and Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers went third with a 2-1 result at Haringey Borough. Bowers & Pitsea leapfrogged Harpenden Town by beating them 4-3 away, while basement side Hutton drew 0-0 with Watford Ladies Development.

1 North – Histon’s 3-1 result over Thetford Town marked their 16th straight win, while Stevenage Development won 5-1 at Cambridge City. Newmarket Town had Ellie-Mae Sturgess dismissed as Dunstable Town claimed victory with a Monet-Grace Wille goal. Colney Heath climbed off the bottom with a 3-1 success at Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds.

1 South – Hashtag United Reserves moved five points clear with a 4-1 win over Hertford Town, but Chelmsford City have games in hand to catch them. Colchester United beat Needham Market by the same score, Brentwood Town netted all three goals at Southend United, while Wormley Rovers were 5-2 winners at Stanway Pegasus.

EAST MIDLANDS – Perfect 10 for Grimsby Town

League Cup Q-Fs – Asfordby Amateurs pipped Wellingborough Town 5-4 on penalties, after Jordan Sampson had equalised for them in the 90th minute. Loughborough Foxes Vixens thrashed hosts Dunton & Broughton United 6-1, Mansfield Town went one better against Dronfield Town as Ainsley Allan contributed a hat-trick, and Anstey Nomads progressed 6-2 at Notts County Development.

League Plate Q-Fs – SJR Worksop were 6-4 victors in the shoot-out after a 2-2 deadlock at Stamford. Gainsborough Trinity eliminated Arnold Eagles 5-0, while Nottingham Trent University went through 3-1 at Long Eaton United.

1 Central – University of Nottingham are up to third on goal difference and just two points short of the leaders after scoring all four goals at Sherwood. Basford United saw off Coalville Town 5-3 to replace them in sixth spot.

1 North – Grimsby Town’s Bethany Wharton scored half their six goals against Belper Town, as they made it 10 wins from 10.

1 South – Newport Pagnell Town lost 2-1 at home to Northampton Town Development, allowing Leicester City LFC to move within a point of the leaders with the only goal at Stanground Cardea Sports.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Hammersmith Triumph in Top Two Clash

Premier – Brentford won 5-1 at Newhaven, Saltdean United saw off Sutton United with 4-0 helped by Georgia Bridges’ hat-trick, and Dartford defeated Ashford Town 4-0 to move into third place. Millwall Lionesses matched that score against Sport London E Benfica, while Dorking Wanderers went one better at home to Ebbsfleet United.

1 North – Hammersmith beat Bromley 2-1 to open up a 10-point lead over them, but from two games more. Actonians Reserves won 4-1 in front of a crowd of 110 at Clapton, while Hackney’s Lizzie Tucker bagged a brace in a 5-3 result at Soccer Elite Football Academy.

1 South – Bexhill United drew 2-2 with Sevenoaks Town, as they stay 10th and 9th respectively.

League Trophy Q-F – Eastbourne Borough knocked out AFC Greenwich Borough 2-1 to make the semi-finals.

NORTH EAST – South Shields Win in Stoppage Time After Red Card

Premier – South Shields had Annece Legg red-carded in added time, but Kelsi Hoot levelled for them after 96 minutes for a 2-2 tie at Ponteland United. Bradford City beat Wallsend BC 4-0, Thornaby thrashed hosts Brunsmeer Athletic 9-0, and Alnwick Town sent Sunderland West End to a 3-0 loss.

1 North –  i2i International Soccer Academy are third after a 5-1 defeat of Redcar Town, while Stockton Town were 3-1 victors over Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves.

1 South – Handsworth’s Abby Watkinson scored five times in their 14-2 win at Farsley, but they remain behind leaders Leeds Modernians on goal difference. York City Development substitute Erin Elliott netted the decider just four minutes after coming off the bench for a 3-2 victory at Ilkley Town. Rossington Main beat Lower Hopton 5-1.

NORTH WEST – Chester Make Cup Progress in Extra-Time

Alliance Design & Print Cup 2nd Rd – Chester beat Atherton Laburnum Rovers 2-1 with Sophia O’Neill’s extra-time goal, while Mancunian Unity came through 2-1 at Bolton Wanderers. Accrington Stanley scored five against Warrington Town, Crewe Alexandra eight at Rochdale, and AFC Fylde put 11 past Runcorn Linnets in a tie attended by 148 fans. Workington Town had a walkover at Curzon Ashton.

Alliance Design & Print Plate 1st Rd – Fleetwood Town Wrens got the only goal against Blackpool, FC St.Helens went through 2-1 at Preston North End, and Bolton Wanderers Reserves beat Ashton Town 3-1. Manchester Laces were 5-1 winners at MSB Woolton, and Poulton Vics overran Radcliffe 15-1 with Sophie Coward scoring five times. There were away walkovers for Bury at Macclesfield, Salford City at AFC Crewe, and Altrincham over Fleetwood Reserves.

1 North – Morecambe are three points clear of bottom side Chorley Development after beating them 4-2.

1 South – Altrincham are up two places to sixth after Francesca Boyle completed her brace in added time for a 2-1 win at Liverpool Feds Reserves.

SOUTHERN – Portchester Through on Penalties

League Cup Q-Fs – AFC Portchester won the shoot-out at Farnham Town 5-4 after normal time ended with three goals apiece. Reading triumphed 5-1 at Larkspur Rovers, Winchester City Flyers beat Abingdon United Development 5-2, and Wycombe Wanderers hit Beaconsfield Town for six.

Premier – Woodley United are out of the relegation zone on goal difference after an 89th-minute goal by substitute Sumayah Zayadi gave them their first win of the season, 2-1 at Oxford City.

1 North – Slough Town beat Ascot United Reserves by a single goal, while Oxford City Development played out a goalless draw with Farnborough.

1 South – AFC Stoneham shared eight goals with Bursledon and had gone ahead in added time through Abbie Awdas, only for Isobel Pouncy to equalise with her scored late goal. Second-placed Bemerton Heath Harlequins were held 0-0 at home by tenth in the table AFC Varsity, Havant & Waterlooville are third courtesy of an Amber Marsh effort at Bournemouth Sports Reserves, while Guernsey beat Shaftesbury 2-1 to go sixth.

Shield Services Group SOUTH WEST – Mangotsfield Go Top

Premier – Saltash United are out of the bottom two after Nicola Symons scored the only goal against fourth-placed AEK Boco, while Gloucester City defeated Frampton Rangers 3-0 to move up to sixth.

1 North – Mangotsfield United defeated Downend Flyers 2-1, helped by a goal from substitute Brooke Moore, to go top of the table. Whitchurch’s Ilarna Nche scored all but one of their four goals at Gloucester City Reserves as they went second, while Cirencester Town beat AFC Brislington 4-1.

1 South – Leaders Yeovil Town ran out 6-0 winners away at Wells City.

WEST MIDLANDS – Droitwich Spa Takeover Pole Position

Premier – Hednesford Town’s 2-0 win at Solihull Moors saw them leapfrog their hosts into fourth place. Coundon Court substitute Sophie Sutherland was on target in their 3-2 victory at Burton Albion, who have now replaced them in the drop zone. Basement side Alvechurch held Port Vale to a 3-3 draw.

1 North – Lichfield City moved eight points clear at the top as Courtney Dilger netted three of their four goals against AFC Telford United. Walsall sit second with three games in hand.

1 South – Droitwich Spa defeated Leamington 3-2 with Mai Butler’s 85th-minute decider to knock them off the top of the table. Redditch United edged Long Itchington by the odd goal in five, Hereford FC drew 2-2 with Hereford Pegasus, and Crusaders sank Kingfisher 7-2.
