Second-tier Cwmbran Celtic caused a shock in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup Quarter-Finals with victory over top-flight side Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Fiona Anthony’s first-half goal – assisted by Casey Daniels – was enough for the Adran South side to set up a semi-final tie with Swansea City.

Cardiff City went four points clear at the top from Wrexham but have played a game more than their closest title rivals. Madison Lloyd and Shannon Evans each bagged a brace in a 5-1 result at The New Saints.

Barry Town United’s victory over Aberystwyth Town moved them level on points with Plate Conference leaders Briton Ferry, who now have a gam in hand. Jasmine Turner’s opener at the start of the second half was added to by a Tirion Sedgwick own-goal and Sienna Stone’s effort.

Connah’s Quay Nomads came through 3-2 at Felinheli to maintain their 100% record in Adran North. Ella Jones’ second goal after 80 minutes made it 3-1, the hosts cutting the lead deep into added time.

Bangor scored first through Ffion Bee but Flint Town United struck three times in a dozen or so minutes straddling the interval, through Daisy Hughes, Shannon Hobbs and Rebecca Eagles.

Cardiff Met kept the Adran South top spot with a 2-0 defeat of Carmarthen Town, Esme Kilburn-Thompson and Cerys Gittins scoring second-half goals.

Second-placed Pure Swansea beat Taffs Well 3-0, Annabel Stokes with a double that included a penalty and Hannah Duffy the other scorer.

Llanelli Town are marginally off the bottom following a 3-1 home defeat to Penybont, for whom Cerys Jones was twice on target.
