Celtic Women See Off Spartans in Sky Sports Cup

Celtic Women came through their Sky Sports Cup Second Round tie at SWPL 2 side Spartans 3-1, Laura Berry scored five times as Rangers overran St Johnstone.

Grace Courter and Amy Gallacher had Celtic two up, Izzy Young halved the deficit for Spartans by the break but Saoirs Noonan restored the two-goal cushion with a second-half header.

Lisa Forrest made the breakthrough for Glasgow City at Hamilton on half-time, Sofia Mataa bagged a brace from the bench, Mebae Tanaka and Nicole Kozlova addd one each.

Laura Berry scored five of Rangers’ dozen against St Johnstone, nine-goal Hibs has eight different scorers in the tie with Motherwell.

Carly Johns netted twice for Hearts in the first 10 minutes, Georgia Hunter also struck twice against Montrose.

Lia Tweedie hit a hat-trick for Partick as Livingston also bowed out to a 7-0 scoreline, Aberdeen beat Kilmarnock 3-1 despite being pegged back at 1-1 in the second half, Queen’s Park progressed by the same result at Gartcairn aided by Ellie Kane’s brace after the break.

The Quarter-Final Draw will take place on Tuesday 7 October, 2.30pm live on Sky Sports News.
