Celtic FC Women hold out for victory at Hearts on the opening day of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2025-26 season.

Emma Watson had a early goal for Celtic disallowed but Amy Gallacher slipped a well-weighted pass through for Morgan Cross to fire home inside the near post. Natalie Ross nipped in before Rachael Johnstone to knock Emma Westin’s header past the goalkeeper. Celtic goalkeeper Lisa Rogers pushed a Carly Johns shot into the side-netting, Hearts eventually getting one back with a Georgia Timms penalty in added time. Rogers made a couple of late saves, with Celtic left hanging on for the victory.

Hibernian began the defence of their title by beating Aberdeen 5-1, Rosie Livingstone and Kathleen McGovern each scoring twice.

Montrose took the lead against Rangers as Kaela McDonald-Nguah set up Olivia Chomczuk to score, only for the hosts to have Cassie Cowper dismissed after just nine minutes. Katie Wilkinson turned the game round in a three-minute spell, her second from the spot. Rangers ran in three goals during eight second-half minutes, Mia McAulay, Brogan Hay and a third for Wilkinson, before Kathryn Hill added a late sixth.

Partick Thistle pipped Hamilton in stoppage time with E. Rennie the matchwinner, after Eryn Brown replied to Jo Love’s opener.

Glasgow City scored all three goals of the game against Motherwell in the first 23 minutes, Nicole Kozlova twice on target and Katie Lockwood netting in-between.

Boroughmuir Thistle 2-0 Livingston
Stirling University 0-3 Spartans
Kilmarnock 6-2 St Johnstone
Dundee United 4-2 Queen’s Park

Morgan Anderson grabbed a late decider for Gartcairn at East Fife, Kilmarnock overcame St Johnstone 6-2 aided by Abby Robinson’s brace. Dundee United beat Queen’s Park 4-2 in the meeting of two sides relegated last term, Natalie Bandura scored twice as Spartans took the points 3-0 at Stirling, Boroughmuir beat Livingston with a goal in either half.
