Cardiff Met have made an immediate return to the Genero Adran Premier after edging Connah’s Quay Nomads on penalties in the play-off.

Hannah Slack opened the scoring for the North Division champions, the Nomads, who looked set for victory at Aberystwyth Town’s Park Avenue ground.

But Faith Mulenga grabbed an 89th-minute equaliser that sent the match to a shoot-out, where Met goalkeeper Violet Bell saved two spot-kicks.

Beaten in the play-off last season, the Nomads had the advantage again after the first penalty was missed by Met’s Esme Kilburn-Thompson and Mel Barlow converted.

But Bell’s two saves led to Olivia Barnes putting away a decisive spot-kick and returning the Archers to the top flight.
