Burnley Women sign former Liverpool defender Jasmine Matthews

Jasmine Matthews Signs For Burnley Women

Burnley Women have signed former Liverpool centre-back Jasmine Matthews, who arrives with 150 top-flight appearances to her name.

She played nine times for Liverpool last season, previously with Bristol City Matthews appeared for them in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Of her move, Matthews said: “I’m really excited. When I spoke to Matt (Beard) and he said he was coming to Burnley, it was a no brainer for me to come too.

“I then spoke to Lola (Ogunbote) about the ambitions of this club and when I came down to see the facilities I was blown away, so I can’t wait to get going.

“I have a lot of experience and ultimately that’s why I came here – to try and push Burnley to where they belong, and I’m here to try and win the league.”
