Burnley Women won 2-0 over Liverpool Feds at Walton Hall Park in midweek to extend their lead at the top of the FA WNL Northern Premier Division.
Following a disallowed goal at the end of the first half, the Clarets broke through after the hour mark, as Jas Matthews’ cross to the back post was slotted home by Millie Ravening.
Mid-table Feds came close to an equaliser in front of 163 fans at 83 minutes, as Emily Cole’s effort hit the crossbar and went over.
Deep into added time, a penalty was converted by Ravening to seal her double and three more crucial points in the title race.
The result put Burnley seven points ahead of a similarly unbeaten Wolves side, who have three games in hand.
