Burnley Women have signed striker Charlie Wellings on a one-year deal from Nottingham Forest, with the option to extend the contract for another 12 months.

During the 2025/26 campaign, she made 14 BWSL2 appearances and her two seasons with Forest brought 19 goals from a total of 36 games.

Her career began with eight years at Birmingham City, four with the senior side, before moving to WSL rivals Bristol City.

A prolific spell in front of goal followed at Celtic, then she played for Reading until they dropped out of the top leagues.

Internationally, Wellings helped England finish third at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Wellings said: “Having been in talks for quite a while as well, I’m happy to get it over the line and I’m looking forward to getting started.

“The ambition of the club shows through – we’re in and around the same facilities as the men’s team every day, which are unbelievable.

“I’ve had a few battles against Burnley over the years, and it’s always been a good game. I’m happy to be on this side of things now.”
