Brooklyn FC Women today announced the signing of English midfielder Abbey-Leigh Stringer.

Stringer spent more than a decade competing in the Women’s Super League and the Gainbridge Super League.

A product of the Aston Villa academy, Stringer made her professional debut for Birmingham City in 2014, making 43 WSL and cup appearances across five seasons.

In 2018 she signed for Everton, making 53 appearances over three seasons and scoring her first professional goal.

Stringer moved in 2021 to West Ham United, for whom she played 49 times and scored once in three seasons.

A move to the US in 2024, saw Stringer sign with DC Power ahead of the inaugural season of the Gainbridge Super League.

She made three appearances before returning to England to play one season with Burnley.

Representing her country, Stringer made more than 20 appearances for England youth teams between U17 and U23 levels.

Known for her tactical discipline, physical presence, and box-to-box work rate, the 31-year-old Stringer adds proven quality and international poise to Brooklyn’s squad.

Head Coach Alex Smith said: “Abby is a dynamic player whose experience in the most competitive leagues in the world will be invaluable to our team. Her leadership, defensive capabilities, and ability to dictate the tempo of the match make her an integral piece as we continue reshaping the culture of our squad.”
