Bristol City have added Gemma Lawley to their Barclays WSL2 squad, the centre-back signing a two-year deal at Ashton Gate.

She was at Birmingham City for the last seven years, making her WSL debut for the Blues aged just 17.

Head Coach Charlotte Healy told bcfc.co.uk: “Gemma is a solid defender with Championship experience and will add quality to the squad.

“I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Lawley commented: “Bristol City is a very ambitious club, and having Ashton Gate as our home ground is a massive selling point.

“It’s a great stadium to play at, and hopefully, it can be filled out as much as possible with Bristol City fans, and I can’t wait to meet them all.

“It’s been a long off-season, but I feel like I have prepared very well, and I can’t wait to get started.”
