Bolton Wanderers Women have appointed Republic of Ireland international Megan Campbell as Assistant Coach.
The former Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton and London City Lionesses defender – who has over 50 caps for her country, joins Wanderers following their promotion to the fifth tier.
She will work alongside Tom Cunniff as joint Assistant Coach and combine her coaching commitments with her playing career elsewhere.
Campbell told bwfc.co.uk: “The journey that this Women’s team is on, with the full backing from Sharon Brittan and the board – as well as the relationship I have built with Myles (Smith) over many years through our time in the WSL – is the reason that I was so attracted to the role.
“I hope that my knowledge and experience within the game can help develop our squad not only as players, but more importantly as people.
“I am ambitious within my own coaching journey to develop as much as I can. Working alongside Myles and the rest of the staff here, I know that I will continue to grow as a coach.”
Manager Myles Smith said: “I am thrilled to welcome Megan to our coaching team at Wanderers Women.
“Her pedigree and experience is there for all to see, and I have no doubts that she will excel and improve our coaching team in helping to achieve our goals.
“We conducted a thorough process when recruiting for this role, and when Megan expressed her interest for the position – given our previous relationship that stretches back years – it felt like the perfect fit.”
Bolton begin their North West League Premier Division campaign away to Darwen on Sunday 17 August, kick-off 2pm at the Multevo Anchor Ground.
