Birmingham City Women beat Sunderland 1-0 to go top of the Barclays WSL 2 table on goal difference.

Eighth-placed Sunderland looked to have taken a point from the Wednesday visit to St. Andrew’s but lost out to a 93rd-minute goal.

Lily Crosthwaite scored the only goal with a strike from outside the box into the top corner.

Emily Scarr might have given Sunderland the lead in added time but sent the opportunity over the crossbar.

But the Blues knocked Charlton Athletic off the top of the league with two games to go each and two automatic promotion places up for grabs.
