While the Barclays Women’s Championship title will be won on the final day, Sheffield United have been relegated.

Sheffield United 2-3 Southampton
Bristol City 2-3 Sunderland
London City Lionesses 1-1 Durham
Newcastle United 1-1 Birmingham City
Portsmouth 4-0 Blackburn Rovers

A draw for London City Lionesses away to Birmingham City will be enough make them champions, after both drew their penultimate matches.

Hannah Blake struck an early goal for Durham at London City, the Lionesses levelling before the hour mark when Sofia Jakobsson’s cross was glanced in by Izzy Goodwin.

Simone Magill headed Birmingham City one up from Christie Harrison-Murray’s cross, Rachel Furness replying for Newcastle United from a Freya Gregory free kick.

Bristol City led after only 40 seconds as Lexi Lloyd-Smith intercepted a loose backpass to score. Sunderland were level by half time, Mary McAteer crossed for Ellen Jones to volley home. When a free kick was only cleared as far as Lloyd-Smith, she fired home her second goal of the day but Jones would later equalise again and Katy Watson win it for the Black Cats in stoppage time.

Lucie Kendall headed Southampton in front from a Jemma Purfield corner, the Blades levelling by the break as Alyssa Aherne hit the post but Jacqui Hand turned in the rebound. Kendall’s second had the Saints back in front, Georgia Mullett making it 3-1, Abbie Lafayette converting a very late spot-kick for the hosts.

Portsmouth put four goals past Blackburn Rovers, in leapfrogging them into ninth place. Megan Hornby’s ball across the face of goal was put away by Sophie Quirk, Hornby got the second herself late in the first period. Quirk got her second after rounding the goalkeeper and Emma Thompson the opened her account for Pompey.
