Arsenal’s 5-1 midweek win over Leicester City moved them within three points of Barclays Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea but from a game more.

Caitlin Foord scored twice as the points were effectively sealed just after the half-hour mark, with Stina Blackstenius also on target in-between.

Foord’s first was a far-post finish from Frida Maanum’s cross, her second beating goalkeeper Janina Leitzig with a big deflection.

After the break, Beth Mead headed home a cross from Kim Little and although Yuka Momiki got one back for Leicester, Victoria Pelova swiftly volleyed in a fifth for the Gunners.

Although Leicester have now played a game more than the two sides beneath them, they are seven points above the relegation place.
