Arsenal Women moved into second place in the Barclays WSL with a 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Three goals came in a five-minute spell before the quarter-hour mark, with Arsenal twice taking the lead.

Katie McCabe scored from outside the box after Mariona Caldentey was denied on the line, but the scores were immediately level again as Honoka Hayashi beat Anneke Borbe from 20 yards.

Caitlin Foord had the ball in the back of the net, but the goal was given to Alessia Russo, as her touch was deemed to have crossed the line before Courtney Brosnan parried it away.

Olivia Smith sealed the victory with a half-volley from outside the area, delighting Arsenal’s travelling fans who contributed 1,250 to the total attendance figure of 4,344.
