Arsenal Women take on OL Lyonnes and Man Utd Women make their UWCL League Stage debut against Vålerenga among matches this midweek.
The new UWCL format is one table of 18 sides playing six games, after which the top four go directly into the quarter-finals, sides finishing fifth to twelfth go into play-offs to join them, while the last six will be eliminated.
Vålerenga sit second in Norway’s Toppserien behind SK Brann, whom they have lost to twice this term and Manchester United beat in the UWCL Third Qualifying Round.
Lyon visit Arsenal with four wins from their first four games in the Première Ligue campaign, while new signings include Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Ashley Lawrence (from Chelsea), Lily Yohannes and Teagan Micah (from Liverpool).
As the Gunners start their defence of the Champions League trophy, head coach Renée Slegers told arsenal.com: ‘Yeah, very excited, but it all starts over again, so we start from scratch. We’re very proud of what we did last year and there was a lot going into that, but we all start over again, and everyone is constantly developing. Teams change and we’re going to play against an extremely strong opponent.’
Chelsea at Dutch Eredivisie leaders FC Twente in the Champions League. They beat them 3-1 & 6-1 in UWCL group games last season but face a team who have won all their first four matches domestically.
Glasgow City are away to HB Køge in the Europa Cup, with their hosts sitting top of the Danish A-Liga after winning seven of the first eight games.
There are also a couple of games in the Subway League Cup, as Southampton play south coast rivals Portsmouth and West Ham welcome Brighton.
