Arsenal stun Lyon to reach UEFA Women’s Champions League Final

Arsenal pulled off a big victory away to Lyon while Barcelona repeated their 4-1 UEFA Women’s Champions League Semi-final 1st Leg win over Chelsea.

Chelsea 1-4 Barcelona (Agg: 2-8)
Olympique Lyonnais 1-4 Arsenal (Agg: 2-5)

Arsenal took less than five minutes to level the tie in Lyon, Kim Little forcing a corner which went in off a defender and goalkeeper Cristiane Endler.

The Gunners rocked their hosts with further goals before and immediately after the interval, Mariona Caldentey firing them two up and Alessia Russo slotting home a third within 30 seconds of the restart.

Vanessa Gilles lost her footing allowing Caitlin Foord to blast Arsenal into a 5-2 aggregate lead, Melchie Dumornay pulled one back and although Beth Mead escaped conceding a penalty for handball that was deep into stoppage time.

Barcelona made if 5-1 on aggregate with a solo effort on 25 minutes, Aitana Bonmati with a powerful finish past Hannah Hampton.

The tie was sealed with two goals close to half-time, Ewa Pajor poking home a Caroline Graham Hansen cross ad Claudia Pina curling one in off the post from 20 yards.

Salma Paralluelo was allowed to stab home a late fourth for the visitors, Wieke Kaptein quickly replying with a consolation for Chelsea.
