A Group B interview with the Canada full-back, conducted as she prepares for a third World Cup and a move to Chelsea after six and a half years at Paris Saint-Germain. Lawrence traces the shift in mentality that produced Olympic gold in 2021, saying Canada had simply grown tired of losing to the United States and had perhaps respected them too much before deciding to go into games fearless. She describes a squad that has turned over since the retirements of Melissa Tancredi, Diana Matheson and Steph Labbe, but which retains its singing habit and now boasts an a cappella group led by Desiree Scott. She reflects on maturing as a player: before you win, you lose a lot.
