WWC Report Card: France, with Sylvain Jamet

She Kicks, issue 29, August 2015 pp.50–51

Sylvain Jamet calls France’s tournament disappointing, with another quarter-final exit as at Euro 2013 and no medal, though they did qualify for the Olympics. The United States exceeded his expectations by finding their A game when it mattered most, with Julie Johnston extremely consistent in defence, and England did very well, being flexible tactically, difficult to beat and scoring through different players unlike in previous tournaments. France and Germany failed to produce anything from the quarter-finals onwards, and Vivianne Miedema did not light up the tournament as expected. His favourite memory is comic: after the England game the French dressing room was too small, so reporters ended up in a circle taking notes from a phone on loudspeaker.
