#WNL4GRENFELL Charity Match: Ex-England All-Stars 1-2 WNL Select XI

She Kicks, issue 49, September 2018 pp.8–9

Tottenham’s Ronnell Humes scored twice, the second in stoppage time, as an FA Women’s National League Select XI beat an Ex-England All-Stars side 2-1 at Boreham Wood in the fourth annual Charity Trophy, with the proceeds going to the Grenfell Foundation and the Harrow Club. Kelly Smith equalised with a spectacular long-range shot on eighty-one minutes and hit the post four minutes later; Marieanne Spacey had earlier shot a penalty over the bar. Katie Chapman, weeks into retirement, was player of the match. Full line-ups are printed, Vic Akers managing the All-Stars and Leicester City’s Jonathan Morgan the Select, and the team sheet marks Rachel Unitt, Michelle Hickmott, Kim Jerray-Silver and Katie Foster as firefighters and Kathryn Riley as a paramedic. Select captain Eartha Pond, who lives close to Grenfell Tower, wanted the survivors to know the support is not just for a day.
