Where In The World? Mapping The Non-English Players Of The 2020/21 FA WSL
She Kicks, issue 63, October 2020 pp.10–13
A four-page reference map of how international the FA Women’s Super League had suddenly become. It lists every player in the 2020/21 season who comes from or represents a nation other than England – 123 of them, across 23 countries from Portugal to South Korea – each with her club, and sets beside them the English and non-English counts for all twelve squads. The spread of those figures is the story: one club is 27 per cent English, another 71 per cent. A second table runs the same count back through every season since 2011, when 35 non-English players faced 132 English ones across eight teams, to 2020/21, when the two figures had converged at 126 and 144 across twelve. The magazine is explicit that it is not judging, only that it finds it fascinating.
