#WEURO2017 Action and Reaction: Semi Finals

Denmark see off Austria on penalties in Breda after a goalless draw, and the hosts end England’s tournament 3-0 in a packed and pulsating Enschede, Vivianne Miedema scoring in the first half before Danielle van de Donk and a stoppage-time own goal finish it. The England reaction is candid rather than consoling. Ellen White says you can read the devastation on everyone’s faces and gives Holland credit for taking their chances. Fara Williams says it simply was not the England team the tournament had been watching. Jodie Taylor itemises the margins – a chance she wanted back, a post, two penalty shouts – and insists they could have won it and will go up another level before the World Cup. Mark Sampson congratulates Sarina Wiegman.
