Interview
Welsh Wonders: Sophie Scherschel on Cardiff Met’s four-trophy season
She Kicks, issue SK21, June 2014 p.42
An interview with Cardiff Met winger Sophie Scherschel, in her third year with the Archers, as the side celebrate a four-trophy season and qualification for Europe. Scherschel says the Welsh Premier League has changed significantly in two years, with north and south merged into a single division and the standard far more competitive, so that they have not once expected an easy ride. Returning to the Champions League means a lot after losing the title so narrowly the previous year, and she says players who have experienced it are excited to improve on their earlier results. She admits they were gutted when PILCS denied them the title on home turf, but says the team showed character by winning 5-0 the following week to seal the crown after a long season of more than forty games.
