WeKick! with Saltash United
She Kicks, issue 1, December 2009 p.33
A WeKick! grassroots club profile of Saltash United, the Cornish side who reformed in 2005-06 and have had a winning season every year since. The page charts the rise: third in Cornwall Women’s Division Two and an IT Associates Cup semi-final in year one, promotion as runners-up plus the IT Associates Cup in 2006-07, third in the county’s top division in 2007-08, then a second promotion in three seasons into the South West Regional League, where they took the league title and the Cornwall Women’s Senior Cup. They were unbeaten eight games into the current campaign, six wins and two draws, with Gloucester City their biggest rivals and Weymouth the nearest thing to a derby. Captain Sam Drewery, a long-range free-kick specialist who plays for UCP Marjon and Cornwall, is profiled alongside her manager father Steve, the club’s nicknames, jocks, jokers and an unusually large Lucozade haul.
