We Kick with Hebburn Town Honeys

She Kicks, issue 29, August 2015 p.58

The magazine’s recurring team slot features Hebburn Town Honeys, an Under-14 side in the Russell Foster Girls League whose club mascot is a bee and who play in yellow and black stripes. Coached by Dave and Heather Wheeler, whose Scottish accent produces sayings like calling everyone hen, they train on Tuesdays and play Saturday mornings at Carr Ellison Park in Hebburn, travelling as far as Darlington. They were recently Plate runners-up in the Pinpoint League Tournament. Asked to name their stars they insist, in what they concede is a cliché, that they are all stars in their own right, though Makenzie is the loudest despite being the smallest. They watch England and regularly support Sunderland and Newcastle United’s women.
