We Kick — Kikk United
She Kicks, issue 3, October 2010 p.44
A We Kick! profile of Kikk United, described as the only Scandinavian women’s football team in Britain, told through captain Sara Segerstrom and vice-captain Ingeborg Oie. Founded in 2004 by Swedish players in London, chiefly Andrea Berg and Karin Revelj, who wanted a side that played good football, the club took its name from Kicka In Kulan i Krysset – kick the ball in the top corner. They started in Division Four of the Greater London Women’s league, narrowly missed Division Two in 2007-08 and turned down promotion, then won it in 2008-09 and recruited coach Chris Brayford. The 2009-10 title run took in a 6-4 comeback at Flamingoes, a stoppage-time 5-4 win over Tottenham reserves and a nervy clincher against MSA. Now in the London and South East Regional League, they report three wins from three, a Swedish cafe sponsor and an FA historian for a fan.
