Wats Upon a Time in Mexico

An extended guest column from the Manchester United and Scotland midfielder, on loan at Liga MX Femenil’s most successful club until the summer. Watson heard about Tigres around Christmas, spoke to Pedro Martinez Losa and to former United teammates Irene Guerrero and Lucia Garcia, and describes weekly Spanish lessons with her boyfriend’s sister, homework included, plus the mispronunciation that had her calling oranges spiders. She writes about El Volcan erupting for her first goal against Cruz Azul, being stopped for photos whenever she leaves the apartment, and a fast, physical, transitional league played in heat and altitude. Playing alongside Jenni Hermoso and Diana Ordonez, she is relishing the play-offs.
