Wales Launch FIFA ‘Live Your Goals’ Programme

More than a hundred girls aged six to eleven gathered near the Cardiff City Stadium, where Wales were preparing to face England in a World Cup qualifier, to launch FIFA’s Live Your Goals campaign in Wales. Delivered with the Football Association of Wales and the Welsh Football Trust, the programme will stage six festivals across the country, beginning at Newtown FC in October, aimed at recruiting girls from schools into community participation. Alongside the festivals, regular turn-up-and-play sessions will use music, dance and adapted football activities to create an informal and colourful first experience of the game. The campaign targets 4,400 new girl players in Wales and the training of 240 new female coaches, with international players acting as ambassadors for the girls’ game.
