Vitality Women’s FA Cup Final 2023: Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United

A world-record crowd for a domestic women’s game, 77,390, filled a sunny Wembley to watch cup-final debutants Manchester United have the better of a first half they could not convert. Chelsea, some way off their best, were changed by two second-half substitutions: Sophie Ingle took control of midfield and Pernille Harder supplied the forward running. Set away by Guro Reiten, Harder raced clear and centred for Sam Kerr, who stabbed home with the outside of her left boot on 68 minutes for a sixth goal in successive finals and a third FA Cup in a row. Emma Hayes called it a victory for grind and said finding ways to win while below your best is the marker of a great team. Marc Skinner said his team would win things.
