View From The Field: Murray’s Matters (Joelle Murray column)
She Kicks, issue 47, May 2018 p.35
Joelle Murray’s column is a comeback story that turns over in its final paragraph. She describes rehabilitation from a stress response caused by repetitive load through the tibia, managed by wearing a GPS vest in training so her load, intensity and high-speed running could be tracked and sessions adjusted – then the relief of a first forty-five minutes against St Johnstone, the captain’s armband and the green and white again. Sixty minutes followed in a 2-2 top-of-the-table draw with Glasgow City. The week after that, against Celtic, she was tackled from behind in the sixtieth minute, carried off, and left hospital in a moonboot on crutches with a fractured ankle. She calls it another obstacle and promises to be back in no time.
