View From The Field: Kerys Kicks (Kerys Harrop Column)

Written with Tottenham’s WSL place secured by a 4-1 win over Reading, Kerys Harrop looks back on a season she calls disappointing on the table if not in spirit, with a lot of change in players and staff and a squad she believes has more to give. She is grateful simply to be playing after a back injury that at one point left her unable to lift her right foot or toes. The column’s heart is the year’s toll of ACL injuries, which she says has genuinely played on her mind: players put their bodies on the line every game, and the damage is mental as much as physical. She celebrates Kit Graham and Ria Percival’s returns, sympathises with Leah Williamson missing the World Cup, and plans Rhodes, Amsterdam and America.
