View From The Field: Kerys Kicks (Kerys Harrop column)

Kerys Harrop’s first column of the season, written for a Tottenham side who had started well, opens with the two retirements. She played alongside Ellen White at Birmingham, including the 2017 FA Cup final at Wembley, and calls her the most professional and dedicated player she has shared a pitch with, and humble with it. On Jill Scott she is enjoying the jungle. The bulk of the column, though, is a defender making a case for another defender: Harrop argues that her Spurs teammate Ashleigh Neville deserves at least a look from Sarina Wiegman in the friendlies, acknowledges that age may count against her, and notes approvingly that Maya Le Tissier has just been called up. She closes on a waterlogged pitch at Everton and an 8-0 win over Brighton.
