View From The Field: Kerys Kicks (Kerys Harrop column)
She Kicks, issue 57, November 2019 p.19
Birmingham City’s captain writes from an odd position: top of one competition and bottom of the other. Two wins have put the Blues top of their Continental Cup group while two league defeats, to Everton and West Ham, have left them bottom of the WSL – and Kerys Harrop is clear that the performances have deserved better than the results. She gives a warm shout-out to Rachel Williams, back from long-term injury and scoring headers for fun in the cup, and pushes back on Emma Hayes’s description of the Continental Cup as a nonsense competition: with only twelve WSL clubs, a second cup means more football and another route to silverware. She closes on Wembley selling out for England against Germany, and what that means to a player of her vintage.
