View from the Field: Caragh Hamilton

Northern Ireland midfielder Caragh Hamilton makes her She Kicks column debut, reflecting on the growth of women’s football media coverage in Northern Ireland since the country’s historic qualification for EURO 2022, and how injury ahead of that tournament unexpectedly opened the door to a broadcasting career alongside the likes of Karen Carney and Eni Aluko. The Lewes signing discusses last year’s introduction of professional contracts in the Northern Ireland Women’s Premiership, the league’s continued domination by Glentoran and Cliftonville, and her case for an All-Island league to raise standards. She also reflects on the change in atmosphere within the national team under new head coach Tanya Oxtoby as they begin qualifying for EURO 2025, and on settling into life at Lewes with her husband Michael.
