She Kicks, issue 91, September 2025 pp.26–29

Both semi-finals in one section. In Geneva, England were billed as strong favourites but were undone in the 33rd minute by Barbara Bonansea, the 34-year-old controlling a deflected Sofia Cantore cross at the back post and rifling a volley into the roof of Hannah Hampton’s net. Andrea Soncin’s increasingly slick Azzurre held on until Sarina Wiegman introduced Michelle Agyemang in the 85th minute, and England eventually came through 2-1 after extra time in front of 26,539. A day later in Zurich, Germany reached a second successive tournament semi-final only to lose 1-0 to Spain in extra time, Aitana Bonmati the match-winner. Klara Buhl and Giovanna Hoffmann both spurned sizeable chances, Hoffmann prodding past the post one-on-one with Cata Coll. Christian Wuck said his side could be proud despite failing to put their chances away.
