UEFA Women’s Champions League Update

A round-up of British interest in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Arsenal ease through the last 32 with a 7-0 aggregate win over Barcelona, Jennifer Beattie heading a hat-trick at home, then knock out German champions Turbine Potsdam 6-4 on aggregate after a thrilling 4-3 win in Potsdam before more than 3,200, Kelly Smith scoring a hat-trick. There are agonising exits for the other two British sides: Verona edge Birmingham City 3-2 in extra time through a Christiana Girelli treble, and Glasgow City go down 2-1 to Fortuna Hjorring, Jane Ross pulling one back. City coach Eddie Wolecki Black rues their first-leg display. Stamford Bridge will host the final on 23 May.
