A two-page photographic report on the UEFA under-19 finals, the first UEFA tournament Wales had hosted, held in August. France emerged as champions, beating England 2-0 after extra time in the final, though England pushed them all the way. Mo Marley says it does not feel like a defeat from a coaching perspective, praising how the girls conducted themselves across the tournament; she felt they were overawed in the first half but the better side in the second, with France’s greater physical development the difference. Top scorers were Pauline Bremer of Germany on six, with Beth Mead and Sandie Toletti on three. UEFA’s ten emerging talents included Lizzie Durack, Paige Williams and Nikita Parris of England, Griedge M’Bock Bathy, Aminata Diallo and Toletti of France, Lina Magull and Bremer of Germany, Vera Varis and Guro Reiten.
