UEFA EURO 2013 Qualifying Update
She Kicks, issue 9, July 2012 p.26
A round-up of the state of UEFA Women’s Championship qualifying with the final group games due in September, at which point only Germany, Italy and hosts Sweden have secured places at the twelve-team 2013 finals. England need to beat Croatia at home on 19 September to convert a play-off position into automatic qualification at the expense of the Netherlands. Scotland must beat France to have a chance of winning Group 4 and look likely to contest a play-off place with Wales, with the Republic of Ireland already out of contention; Northern Ireland are out after conceding two late goals in Norway. Pictures record Kim Little’s hat-trick in Scotland’s 8-0 win over Israel at Tynecastle, opened by Hayley Lauder, and Rachel Yankey’s quick free-kick that beat the Netherlands.
