Tykes’ Teenage Treble (Brittany Sanderson and Ian Clarke, Barnsley)

Sixteen-year-old Brittany Sanderson scored a hat-trick as Barnsley won the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA County Cup for the first time in the club’s history, beating a Huddersfield side two divisions above them, then went home because she had school the next day. She joined Barnsley at eight after two years in a boys’ team, moved to Sheffield United’s Centre of Excellence and represented England Schoolgirls in Spain before returning to the club she loved most, playing her first senior game the weekend after her sixteenth birthday and scoring twice. Manager Ian Clarke describes the club’s new link-up with Barnsley FC, bringing indoor 3G and full-size 4G pitches, gym access, twice-weekly training and video analysis.
