Two Sides To A Book (Millie Farrow Interview)
She Kicks, issue 77, February 2023 pp.42–45
Millie Farrow began writing four years earlier, at Reading, after a stress fracture in her back, because her family had joked she could write a good book one day. The result, Brave Enough Not to Quit, is an account of physical injury and mental-health struggle that she wrote herself, an editor supplying only the structure. She is direct about why it matters: she is usually the joker in a changing room, and wanted to show there is more depth beneath that. She had recently gone back to her old secondary school to talk about it and found the pupils’ response the point of the whole exercise. On moving to North Carolina Courage she is philosophical, having learned she cannot argue with reality and now travels without expectations.
