Transfer update (summer 2014) and WSL expansion to 2016 announced

She Kicks, issue SK22, July 2014 p.6

A page of summer transfer business alongside news that the FA WSL will expand in 2016. The transfer list records incomings across both divisions, among them Turid Knaak to Arsenal, Abbeyleigh Stringer to Birmingham City, Ana Borges to Chelsea, Nina Pedersen to Liverpool, Kathleen Radtke to Manchester City, and Danielle Brogan and Fiona O’Sullivan to Notts County, with Courtney Sweetman-Kirk joining Doncaster Rovers Belles and Bianca Bragg among four arrivals at Reading. The expansion was agreed at the inaugural meeting of the new FA Women’s Premier League on 22 June: from 2016 one WPL club will join FA WSL 2 subject to licensing, with another in 2017, and no WSL 2 club relegated because licences protect them until 2017. The new 72-club WPL forms six regional divisions and kicks off on 24 August.
