She Kicks, issue 31, November 2015 p.44

Part of the second edition of the She Kicks Tours and Tournaments Guide, this report follows Accrington and Rossendale College Girls’ Football Academy to Spain in October for the Costa Brava U19’s Cup. The college took 26 players and entered two teams, a large proportion aged 16 or 17. Team A won the tournament and Team B finished fourth. Every result is logged: 3-0 against Finland’s HPS-2 with goals from Katie Samuels, Olivia Wilson and captain Ali Johnson, 3-1 against Fredensborg of Denmark, a 1-1 draw with AC Reunion, 3-1 over their own Team B, a 9-0 win over HPS-2 featuring four for Alice Adams and three for Molly Martin, a 1-0 semi-final and a 1-0 final won by Gabby Di Falco. Johnson, a 16-year-old Blackburn Rovers Ladies player, reflects on captaining the side and thanks coaches Phil Backhouse and Tim Breaker.
